gift for newly engaged couple?

I give a shower gift if I am invited to one and a wedding gift whether or not I am invited to the wedding. (One nephew had a very small wedding with just parents, siblings, and a few close friends.)

As Ever has a package of 3 bottles of vine that’s very tasty for $100. I also like it because it’s packed in a very elegant package 😊

I agree with this- based on what you said, they don't have kids, so it would be easy for then to use a restaurant gift card without much planning. Much better than "stuff." Most people would appreciate a night off from cooking or figuring out dinner!

You can easily buy wine at that price point and quality in the grocery store though.

Agree, I don't see a need unless that's part of your culture. You'll be hit up for shower and wedding gifts, don't worry lol.

I presume OP knows this, but she's fond of her niece and wants to give a gift. It's sweet and certainly an appropriate occasion for gift-giving, if the giver feels moved to do so.

Since they own a home, this puzzle would be fun. I purchased one years ago from a different vendor and really enjoyed it.

Not OP, but that's a fun idea! I'm filing that one away.

Same.

Maybe I'm old (and some here would probably say I am... mid 50s), but when my husband & I got engaged, no one sent us an engagement gift. my future in-laws sent me flowers at work. My own parents and siblings (older)... nothin'!

I'm not a big "send flowers" person, but this occasion seems like the right time.

Do you go on lots of picnics? Do they?

I think people often get aspirational in their gift-giving (romantic picnics! Breakfast in bed! Gazing at the mantle clock!) even though the giver would never use it and the couple won't either.

OP, you can definitely send wine, and it's usually pretty easy, depending on the state you're sending it to. Buy one really fancy bottle of champagne, not several pretty good ones.

Don't give them random crap, give them money. They're 30, they already have 2 households of stuff.

If they were 18 and just starting out in life, that would be a different question

That stuff is cheap swill. Please don't.

This is a special occasion. The package of the gift set is really nice.
