Unless a dessert item is specifically labeled as gluten free, there's a very good chance it's not gluten free.

If you really want gluten free cheesecake, Daiya has a gluten free and dairy free version in the freezer section. (I get it from a natural food store near me so if your grocery doesn't have it, try a specialty store.) You can also just go to the baking aisle at the grocery store and buy any of the dozen gluten free cake or brownie mixes available.

Basque cheesecake is crustless.

It's more like a souffle and it definitely is made with flour.

It is made with flour, but it does not have the crumb crust that pp thought would be a dead giveaway.

If you need to be gluten free, you need to check every label for wheat, barley, rye, spelt, soy sauce, beer, etc. I would never blindly eat something that was brought to me without checking the label or asking the person who made it. This is true even for things that I wouldn't expect to contain gluten such as ice cream.

I get a lot of compliments on pavlovas.

I've made lemon curd pavlovas with raspberries.

I prefer to make small individual pavlovas rather than one large one.

OP here. LOL. sorry I should have been more explanatory. I need to take a dessert to someone's home tonight but there are many GF/Celiac people attending. I am tired of making Flans and Pavlovas for this crowd. Plus I feel Pavlovas are for the late spring/summer time.

Please post any good recipes or ideas. I was so excited about the Basque Cheesecake until I realized it was full of flour.

Dark chocolate
Silken tofu
Dash of date or maple syrup
1/4 cup soy milk

I tried this once and it was one of the worst things I've ever eaten. If gluten free is the goal, then why not just eat chocolate pudding? This recipe is for people who only eat vegan raw food and have forgotten what actual dessert tastes like.

Did you make it correctly? Not pp but I've done a version of this for parties and it gets gobbled up so quickly I've learned to set some aside for my friends who are vegan or dairy/gluten free or they risk missing out. I didn't use soy milk though.

You can sub in cup for cup for this because it'sa thickening agent and the lack of gluten shouldn't affect the texture.

But maybe just stop by a gluten free bakery? Happy Tart maybe?

My DD has to eat gluten free. We've had very good success making favorite cake and cookie recipes with King Arthur's "Measure for Measure" flour. Just don't bake breads with it.

MOMs sells The Maine Pie Co gluten free pies. They are in the freezer and you take them and bake them. They are really good pies. I would be so happy if someone brought one to a dinner since I am GF

Yes, I made it correctly and it looks like pudding but tastes like raw tofu slightly masked with other flavors. (Yes, I used silken tofu.) Are you sure your friends didn't just throw it out while you weren't looking? Why use tofu as a thickener rather than starch like a regular pudding? Gluten free does not mean vegan.

Honestly, just buy a gluten free cake mix (any brand but I like King Arthur), make it in a Bundt pan, and drizzle it with glaze or ganache. Just make sure to use GF flour when you grease and flour the pan rather than one of the sprays that may contain flour.
