Where to Buy Bras

Anonymous
New PP. I have stopped wearing bras.

If I leave the house (which is not that often) I'll wear a bra. Otherwise I don't. I hate the pinching, the riding, and all the discomfort. I'm around a 34B myself.

Somebody tell me a good comfortable bra that doesn't cost $100. It's almost summer which means I need to start wearing bras outside of the house. Ugh.

A Bra That Fits calculator gave me a more accurate result than getting measured in a store. I can now order the right size online.

I normally say Trousseau but had a not-so-great experience there a few months ago.

Interesting.

I'm a DD or DDD and feel like the only sizes I ever see are A - C.

Trousseau in Falls Church (and I live in northern MoCo and the trip is worth it). I was there a month ago - amazing selection, great staff and bras in my size 30DDD

Belle Mode Intimates in Fairfax is great. Staff is super nice (much nicer than Trousseau IMO). Full retail price, but for me having a bra that actually fits is worth it.

Trousseau was great. I had a fitting and discovered that I have pretty much been wearing the wrong size bra all my life! Such a relief to be finally wearing the correct size. They have a very wide selection of sizes and styles, and can special order if needed. They're pricey, but I'd rather have a few excellent bras than a drawerful of cheap ones.

Nordstrom also has a wide selection and offers professional fittings.

Post should be “where to try on bras”
Where to buy is quite different.

+1 can't recommend Bell Mode enough. Absolutely the best fittings my mom and I have ever had! Expensive, but I don't buy 'real' bras often (am more often wearing sports bras).

Great to know. I’m hard to fit, and didn’t have a good experience at Trousseau.

Anecdotally I had a terrible experience here. I had an appointment and they were so rude.

Also not a fan. I like Le Bustierre much better. Less pretentious.

+1 same. They're all just so uncomfortable and binding even the sports bras.

"Yup, this is exactly what happened to me the one and only time I went to a bra fitting place. I had to argue with the lady. I’m an A/b and she wanted me to buy a DD and not only was it big, it added about 10 lbs to the way I look."

Sounds to me like this PP is one of those women who refuses to acknowledge that she's been wearing the wrong size. I'm guessing she's used to wearing a band that is much too loose with cups that are the right size. The thing is that as the band size goes down, the cup size goes up. So, someone wearing a 38B that is too loose might really be a 34D. The cup volume of a 34 D is on par with the cup volume of a 38B. You want the band to be what gives the support and holds things in place, not the straps. Yes, this is going to feel like it's too tight the first time you're wearing the right band size. But it is going to be the right fit.
