Black socks constantly fade, white socks constantly stain, what color socks do your kids wear?

What do you (not) have going on in your life that this is something you devote energy to?

I have one boy who is hard on socks. I buy a few black and navy socks for dress clothing, 1 pack of ankle length white socks and 1 pack of white crew socks. Yes the bottoms of the white socks get dirty looking. I’ve tried soaking in Oxy, rewashing, washing on hot… none of it works. When they get too gross looking I recycle the fabric and rebuy. Usually once a year.

White socks but we wear slippers.

I’ve never seen any child wear black socks on the regular. How odd.

Ha! I was buying all kids of colorful socks but it turns out my 6 year old and my wife prefer for him to wear black socks.

My 10 year old has always worn black socks! Every brand makes them. Adidas and Nike are currently in his drawer. I will occasionally buy grey, but usually not white.

Hanes makes boys socks that are white with a light grey bottom. I buy these so DS’s socks look a LITTLE cleaner. I don’t know why, but within a couple weeks after buying new socks the new ones look dingy and pilly!

Black socks are weird outside of certain specific applications. white socks are standard and cheap... wash them in hot water with bleach (or some fancy "keeps whites, white" detergent)... my son has all kinds of different colored socks and wears whatever matches his outfits, or just white. I have never even considered this (white/black sock fading) issue until I read this post.

These socks come in greys, denim blues, navy, black, grey argyle, khaki, etc.

These are more for wearing with leather shoes than with sneakers.

My younger son got a batch of mustard brown socks as an experiment. However, these show blue stains from denim dye transfer.

Old man socks yay

Whatever kids socks. And they get dirty and we wash them. And we get stained or a bit dingy, but they are freaking elementary kid socks, so it’s all good. My kids play. As long as the laundry is clean, I don’t mind a few stains or a bit of dinginess. Life is too short to care about elementary kid socks, beyond making sure they are fresh from the laundry.

+1 colorful socks for mine (lower ES) but don't care if they get a little faded or stained

They wear the stained white ones or the faded black ones.

I buy cotton or mostly cotton socks. I soak white socks in oxyclean for 2 hours every month or two and that keeps them white.
