What’s your college frosh doing this summer?

Anonymous
Twins: One is swim coaching and trying to set up job shadowing for potential career interests. Other is camp counseling and traveling. The camp counseling does not relate to likely major, which is still TBD, but it does pay pretty well. Hoping that one might also take a class at local CC.

Congrats to your kid! Would you be willing to share their home university’s T-range?

Probably working at a Country Club. Worked there last year. Loved it. So, will gladly do it again.

Are they not interested in paid research roles on campus? I would think a T15 would offer plenty of these opportunities.

Seriously? Try lifeguarding and chasing girls.

That’s what my DS will be doing. And hanging out with his boys. Maybe a fun trip or two.

Glad there are still some Chads out there like your son and PP's son who understand that you can only be 19 once and whose parents don't use the word "frosh."

It is literally the last summer of their life that they can explore life without career constraint.

I’m going to let him.

Sorry, I don’t know what a T range is 😂 She’s a freshman at a WASP school is that helps?

Were they not interested in research? Industry internships generally prioritize upperclassmen.

Sure. He would be happy with a research position, but he doesn't have any contacts in our area (he is not staying at his college over the summer). How does he apply for research positions?

Does he specifically not want to stay on campus over the summer? Only asking as his home university is likely the easiest place to secure a research position, followed by external opportunities.

Math major with a Japanese minor. He is doing a six week study abroad program in Japan. He'll get 8 credit hours toward his minor.

Correct. He is going to school in Georgia, but he will be coming back to DC for the summer. He applied to internships in DC/Richmond areas.
