It will be a TWD but I don’t think they will be swapping.

Those days are the celebrate a religious holiday and therefore cannot be canceled.

There will not be any elections on June 16 as previously planned.

We pay $100-120 per day for drop in care at our old day care. Thankful that we have this option and can afford it. But it emergency childcare adds up significantly for many families.

Agree that it would be very surprising if FCPS did end up closing schools for this given all of the recent discourse about needing more five day weeks. But hopefully they announce a plan to provide childcare at the same time if this does end in being a real thing.

Why not hold the elections at high schools only and keep the elementary schools open?

Yeah they swap April 10 into a regular school day. They should also see how many hours they have as of Wednesday, June 10 and if it's enough end school then. I'd prefer Friday, June 5 but I'm sure they won't have enough hours for that now that 6 days have been canceled unless they reclaim a day or two. Having started on August 18, ending on June 17 is awfully late. It's nearly year round territory and is year round length for teachers but unlike actual year round schools there are 3 full weeks off a year instead of 6 or 7.

Finals have already been set. They are not ending the school year early.

Just move finals up a week. It's early March so there is still plenty of advanced notice.
It wouldn't be early, it would be the same time as the last two years (2nd Wednesday in June instead of the 3rd). FCCPS started the same day and ends on June 5 12 days earlier.

Since that only happens in your delusional brain, it will be fine.

They are not going to cancel any teacher workdays. Or move them around.

They did not change anything when they added the September Election Day.

Especially with the five day Memorial Day holiday, they cannot end on 6/5. Plenty of families are already not planning to return. If they say they are ending on 6/5, the schools will be empty that last week.

So bunch of people will skip the last 15 days and if they are old enough miss Finals?

So they are adding another teacher workday? They will have April 6, 10 and 21. They don't need 3 so close to each other. Just move the April 10 one to April 21. The September one wasn't near another TW day.
