Personally I would not go to Egypt right now.

I would consider Morocco, but I’ve spent a lot of time working in both Egypt and Morocco so I’m a bit more used to both.

I would go out of my way to advertise that I was not an American.

Right? Only Americans think it's the done thing to put your flag all over everything.
That's the biggest tell you ARE American

Yup. Canceling Cairo. So let’s just talk Morocco.

I love Egypt and have gone 5 times. I would not go now.

I probably would go to Morocco. Seems far enough away and not involved.

Morocco yes, Egypt no. And I would go out of my way to not advertise my Americanness.

This is one of the dumbest suggestions I’ve ever seen here. Canadian stickers?!?

My husband is in Egypt… right now. He received the email from the State Department but is in no rush to hurry home and no one there is panicking over the war. You have to realize, Israel is their next door neighbor and is at war basically all the time.

I just posted the link above. I think we are going to see an increase in violence against Americans all over the world due to the events unfolding this week. Neither country is worth the risk right now, IMO.

Unfortunately, you’re probably right. Iran and the horrific decision to unnecessarily go to war is just the icing on the cake. Having a loud mouthed, narcissistic bully as your leader doesn’t make you many friends. You reap what you sow.

I’d keep Morocco. It was one of my best trips ever, would like to return again.
I’d avoid the Middle East for now.

We’ve been before so not looking for normal cautions - just thoughts based on current circumstances. Any reason to think Morocco would be less safe than usual? We can skip Cairo for not much more money.

Skip for now

Where the f are the travel advisories for US citizens?

My colleagues in Morocco have been reporting daily that things are okay/totally normal on the ground there.

My parents were supposed to ve traveling to Egypt and have canceled. Their connections are also an issue. I wouldn't go (and am canceling a spring break trip to Dubai).

Trump himself is saying to expect several weeks of escalation.
