Lidl

+1.

At any store, I examine the produce carefully.

Milk has been fine. Cheese has been fine, and their imported cheese is a lot lower cost than Giant. I would never buy meat at Lidl, because other places are lower cost. Avoid the rotating junk from China in the center of the store.

I have been shopping at the new lidl in bethesda. I gind the quality the same as safeway or giant for the same price.

It's a discount store for poor people.

For people who don't spend money. Not the same as "poor".

Add pork and chicken liver pate to the list. I've had my fair share of pate and I know that it can occasionally smell like poop and still be perfectly good and taste good but this smelled like a homeless person pooping in an alley. Not edible. It was one of the end-cap items that I guess are on sale or soon to be discontinued. Thank goodness.

I find that some actually believe this. They also had a turned up nose approach before even going and then they had their reality fit their preconceived belief.

All stores have issues with produce at times…all. But your misconception says more about you than Lidl.

Love their bakery and their international foods section. Great cheese selection. Their prices are considerably lower on many things. I find produce to be hit or miss everywhere these days, no worse at Lidl.

Lidl is for poor people. Have you seen the quality of the produce? And the weird no brand canned food? I think some of it is rejected food from China.

I think their produce and dry goods are fine. I’ve never quite trusted their meats. I’ve never had an issue with their cheese and buy their cheese and yogurt.

This is OP. No it is not for poor people. It's a watered down, cheaper version of Rodman's. It has some fun items you can't get elsewhere. I just can't count on the quality now so that takes the fun out of it.

No dummy, that's not why.

Educate yourself. It's pretty easy now with the internet and all....

It's great for people who live close enough to walk. There is a Giant, a safeway and TWO -- count 'em, two -- Trader Joe's in that area so there must be something right about it. I'm waiting for a Whole Foods.

+1 Lol, even though the River Rd, Rockville Pike, and Friendship Heights ones aren't really all that far from downtown Bethesda. I'm thinking they'll turn the Amazon Fresh at Chevy Chase Lake into one.
