It’s partially your circle and partially the reality. One of my young adult kids works in finance, the other is a teacher in NYC, so some definitely chose a helping profession.
My husband is an artist, and I wouldn’t want my kids to become one, though. The life math there is not mathing anymore. |

NYC has always been striver. Watch the Diane Keaton movie where she adopts a baby and how they stress about school admissions. It’s an old movie too.
NYC is a fun place but not a caring place. It’s fine for a 20-year-old but I would never raise children there. |
