Sounds like we are in the same boat and it is a hard decision. I wish this post was getting more traction! My sense is that St. John’s is more challenging and that teachers are less forgiving overall FWIW. Please weigh in if you learn more. I’d be so grateful! |

I think you need to consider what your child is also looking for. Do they want a co-ed environment or all girls. I have experience with both programs in different capacities. I feel like HC supports its students very well, BUT doesn’t always hold the girls accountable or push them outside their comfort zone. There is A LOT of coddling.
My experience with SJC is one of support and preparing you to be a self-sufficient advocate. |

| late to the thread, but our experience at HC has been transformative for our daughter. She is supported and encouraged (dyslexic and ADHD), loves the close-knit school and traditions, has taken several AP classes, and could not be happier. She often thanks us for sending her (sounds cheesy but true!). SJC seemed like it also has a good program but she wanted smaller/girls. |
