Why is Cesar Milan now so unpopular? I wish I’d tried his techniques

It has nothing to do with understanding that dogs are pack animals. It has to do with the fact that humans are themselves undisciplined, so they have a hard time disciplining others. Humans are destroying both themselves and dogs.

But they are. And dogs who are socialized tend do do so much better

I trained my last two dogs using Caesar's method. My dogs are wonderful, calm, and loving. One is in my lap right now. I know a lot of people don't like him, but it works for me.

You have no real idea how they obtained the carefully scripted 'miracle' shot or what happened to those animals long term. It is really just entertainment for the masses, just like anything else on tv.

But Cesar Milan has books and training guides and actual techniques that people follow and find helpful. There is a reason that he, and let’s say not you, ended up on TV as a well known professional dog trainer.

What is the dog reactive to- people, other dogs?

Our dog is reactive to other dogs. Oddly he does fine at boarding and has dog buddies but we can’t take him on a walk where he sees other dogs without him barking. Going to boarding helped mellow him out but he’ll never be totally over his issues. Reactive dogs often don’t get cured, they just mellow out a little.

I saw someone on reddit bashing his techniques when someone asked about their dog growling, but idk, his methods worked for my dogs. I do think dogs need guidance and to feel like someone is in control
