Coming to the end of economy? United new business Polaris taking up 3/4 and I’m good with that

I wish they'd just move the economy seats below where the luggage is, so I don't have to look at their sad and envious eyes as they walk past my business class seats, when I am sipping my champagne.

Well they don't have to be below, just make sure there is a wall in front of economy, and they can only enter from the back of the plane. Let's not go overboard here.

There is no move to make domestic planes in the US half or even a third business class -- it's primarily economy and will remain that way. Even many wealthy people don't bother with business class for short flights.

Same thing in Europe -- the vast majority of flights are on budget airlines that are mostly or entirely economy class.

OP, you're rich, but are you also stupid?

American has released an Airbus xlr narrow body with lay flat seats for domestic that takes up half the plane. Business class is the most profitable seat for airlines economy is bad for profit. Profitability: - Business: Most profitable. - Premium Economy: Priced 2-3x more than Economy with slightly higher costs. - Economy: May be unprofitable on certain flights. - First Class: Not very profitable due to high costs and space.

Once the price raises people will get used to it. A gray hound ticket should not be on par with economy

And fewer economy class passengers than there would have been even though they still outnumber premium payers.

I don't see value in the luxury of paying thousands more to be on the same conveyance with same arrival and departure times. But some people do get aches and pains from smaller seats.

I will pay double to avoid all the fighting and crazy people. It's also a better experience

I have flown economy flights for 5 decades and I have NEVER seen a fight. Do you mean people who are verbally unhappy? Because I've sure seen rich people bitching about airline service. Hard to escape their whining at the gates. Also the disappointment of loyalty members who can't get upgrades because there are too many of them per flight.

Hopefully this will make it easier to get a Polaris seat. They’ve been all taken when I’ve looked for recent flights.

This replaces their previous high premium A321 that had a pretty similar layout. It only flies on VERY premium domestic routes- mostly JFK-LAX and JFK-SFO, they can't get the fares they need to support this layout on more normal routes. It is not something the vast majority of people would see on a domestic flight.

With spirit and other airlines going away those people may try to use normal airlines we need to be vigilant

I'm here for it. Too many plebes have absolutely ruined travel.

Lol. So now when somebody has a medical emergency in economy the doctor flying business can't get back there and help them. This is fine.

Why would you care about them? They are flying economy and thus are poor. This is America 2026.

This happened to us. Two hours from landing, my spouse is a doctor, and no one wanted to help a passenger all the way in the back, so my spouse went from row 2 all the way to the back to help someone who was having a heart attack and needed to be defibrillated. They even told my spouse to stay by the sick passenger on the floor while the plane landed, and my spouse waited for the EMS to come and take the person away. When the airlines reached out to us, they apologized for the disruption. They gave us $50 in miles, which were useless. So my spouse risked life and disrupted our business class seats for 2 hours as the plane landed for a passenger, and that was the reward. I guess there are karma points, but they can have the flight attendants help the passenger and defib next time.

I would pay double for that and an airline that allows no children under the age of ten.
