How was the ASA futsal program this winter?

Anonymous
The Futsal program was a complete waste. For those who are on their top team the tuition included futsal in the winter, so we were forced to participate. Competition was weak.

Hanna is leaving. He knew he was leaving. His last day is 3/2. IMG must have given him a nice package for him to leave without finishing up the season.

Alexandria is not going to say anything till after tryout seasons. They know they will lose a lot of potential players.

Hanna has no people skills. He always had an angary look on his face. Would never say hi to the parents.

Good luck to him at IMG and having to kiss ass to the richy rich over there.

This club is only GA focused now. They have done nothing to improve the boys side of the house.

Futsal program is fine. Hard to compete with clubs who play it all year long.

They form two teams from the MLSN HG group, two from the MLSN AD group. However, only the two teams created from the MLSN HG outdoor roster seem to benefit from the futsal program. All court time are given to those teams, while the others receive little to no attention. Because futsal practices were held outdoors, snowfall caused most of the remaining futsal teams (those not formed from the MLSN HG outdoor team) to practice very little and play only a minimal number of games (look it up the futsal premier league website). This was despite families paying nearly $800. I would not recommend the program.

Not true. Our team was split and we always trained together.

It’s a racket. Every year we are forced to go to Atlantic City to play three short games in four days. One good local scrimmage would do more for the players than that whole circus. But I’m not an accountant.

How can they force you to go? AC is definitely low on my list, but DD loves that tournament.

Looks like you are taking the words literally so let me help you. No one was dragged into a van but there were strongly worded emails and talks about "expectations" and "importance" of going. And that implies consequences.

I don't understand parents who sign up for top level teams and then complain about participating in top level travel tournaments.

The AC Futsal tournament is this area's highest level futsal tournament, a national championship qualifier. They only let quality teams participate. The fact they even got to go is good for player development.

Alexandria does offer a lower level futsal team/ league that only plays local events. Just commit to that team -problem solved.

This is like qualifying for a regional tournament at the end of the season, then turning around to complain about having to travel for it. Reasonable families know what they signed up for. This thread is full of trolls -vs- actual families participating in the program.

I’m not concerned about whether he says hi. What matters is how hurtful and inappropriate his behavior was toward the kids. Many were deeply affected by his coaching philosophy, and I hope IMG conducted a thorough investigation. I also hope this leads to positive change, including ASA leadership hiring a qualified director (which I doubt).

Hmm, not forced but they make it "mandatory" for MLSN and Ga players....

Yes.

Well....

What's the point of being so secretive? Parents/people would like to know who is taking over his MLS teams.

If they follow the ASA way, it will be a young kid working toward his C license. That still will be better that WH.

Our son had a great experience with WH. To this day he would tell you he was one of his favorite coaches. I am sorry that yours did not, but not every coach is going to be a good fit for every player. Luckily, we all live in an area with a ton of teams, clubs and coaches to choose from.
