RIP Jesse Jackson

I will remember Rev Jackson for his legacy of programs like PUSH and Operation Breadbasket, for the courage of his presidential campaigns, and for the empowering energy that he shared with us when he came to speak with the students at my school.
I AM SOMEBODY.

Reminder that Jesse Jackson campaigned for Palestinian self determination but was stopped by Schumer who bragged about it.

Thanks for the “reminder” and the link. I hadn’t known this about Schumer.

RIP

He did so much for civil rights and human rights.

Sad our country is not flying flags at half staff to honor him but did for someone who spewed hate and misogyny.

I checked and lots of states chose to do this - not just Illinois but also New York, Delaware, North Carolina, and South Carolina (!)

White “Christian” Nationalist is at least staying true to his values. No surprises here. He’s such an odious little toady.

I will never forgive nor forget Jackson’s praise for Trump. This offsets every other positive thing he achieved.

What a move to post this. Are you proud of who you are?

Do you believe that about everyone? That one thing that you, personally can’t “forgive” somehow “offsets every other positive thing (that they’ve ) achieved?” That the hard won accomplishments just get “offset”? Do you apply this standard to yourself? To your children?

I’m rolling my eyes and thinking how privileged and how arrogant you must be — that you’ve never needed anything for yourself or a community that you care about enough to bite your lip and reach for crumbs.

Since Rev Jackson’s death, I’ve read so many comments by people who were directly touched in positive and life changing ways by Rev Jackson. Millions of us “offset” your lack of forgiveness.

tldr: No biggie. I doubt that Rev Jackson has any need for your forgiveness.
