I hope his movement continues to encourage young people to vote and run for office

A flawed but impactful man, who history will treat very kindly. He was a true icon of his time.

Love this message.

He was a few decades before his time and was also running against the most charismatic and popular Republican ever, Ronald Reagan.

Has Trump spewed anything disparaging and disrespectful about Jackson yet?

It’s only a matter of time.

May he rest in peace and power.

I will remember Rev Jackson for his legacy of programs like PUSH and Operation Breadbasket, for the courage of his presidential campaigns, and for the empowering energy that he shared with us when he came to speak with the students at my school. I AM SOMEBODY.

I clicked on this thread with a bit of dread, but so heartened to read people's posts here. A friend's dad worked for Operation PUSH when we were in HS. Yes, Rev Jackson, rest in peace and power. May your memory be for a blessing.

Enough time has passed that it will prove Marc Anthony wrong and the good that did Jackson's will not be buried with him.
