I live in Georgetown and my husband and I just ate there today. We liked it and eat there frequently. For the person who suggested La Bonne Vache in Georgetown, we love it, but they don't take reservations. Whoever suggested Filomena...great idea and it continues to generate good buzz. You could go there and walk to the waterfront after.

Whoever suggested The Wharf, it is fun, but OP said some don't like " funny food"...and many of the Wharf restaurants are ethnic. We had fun there this summer at a place there, Pink Tiger, but it is mostly Asian food. There are other Asian restaurants there, seafood, etc.

I'm the poster who suggested Peacock Cafe in Georgetown. I just wanted to add that Filomena is the worst Italian restaurant I have ever been to. Every dish on the menu is overwrought -- and it's SO expensive. An out of town relative insisted we go there and it was AWFUL. The interior is also hideous. AVOID.

Filomena is disgusting. It was barely passable 15 years ago and it's worse than sysco provided Maggianos now. I do like peacock and la vache!

Chez Billy Sud in Georgetown would be perfect. Nice menu and the interior is charming.

After going through a bunch of restaurants including all your suggestions, she chose Circa at the Boro at Tysons. She wanted something a little more modern.

Osteria Mozza in Georgetown if it's a small group - will feel like a treat and perfect location to walk to a couple spots before or after.

Sequoia in Georgetown is perfect for this. Lovely water views, “standard fare” menu, elegant feel interior to feel special for a birthday, and walking around/shopping in Georgetown after. It isn’t the best food in town, but it is good.

Oh my goodness—I was going to recommend that!! I didn’t because I thought I was off the mark after reading the other, much different, recommendations. I hope she had a nice time!

Brunch at Founding Farmers in Georgetown is perfect for this, and then let them walk around and shop.

That is the choice for the geriatrics living at The Mather. She and her friends will substantially reduce the age of the people dining there. But the warm pretzel is good.
