The “why?” extends to virtually every representative. NYC progressives have been calling Richie Torres, who is supposed to represent the interests of the poorest Congressional district, the South Bronx, as the “Representative from Tel Aviv.” He has no relevant MENA ancestry, no significant Israeli-American or Jewish American population in his district. Massie has been in office since 2013. He has won 7 elections. Having only $1.7M in campaign funds after 15 years is normally quite embarrassing for such a politician. For him it's quite extraordinary. Because he didn't accept Israeli money.
