Ask the teacher. My kid got in and teacher told me the others' names.

DC#2 got in ATS and Key (where DC#1 is at). Already declined ATS b/c we really like the Key community and want to keep two kids in the same school. It was a tough decision given how hard it is to win the ATS lottery. I hope it's the right decision for DC#2 in the long term. Hope it makes another family on the ATS waitlist very happy!

There should be lots of movement once the commit deadline passes. I know lots of people (including us) who applied to more than one school.

We are #2 for HB 6th. Are we #2 for our school, or the whole HB 6th grade lottery pool? DS actually decided he's fine with neighborhood school, but is there any chance? There's like no way, right?

its by school. so 2 kids at your school have to say no for you to get in.

And that, will NEVER happen. Pretty sure just about the whole grade put in.

I knew the #2 kid at my kid's school. #1 got in b/c one kid didn't take the spot. #2 had a sib there and was very sad. (which is also proof that the sibling conspiracy is false).

The sibling conspiracy is very false. As an HB mom, we know many families with one kid at HB and others at other schools who applied but did not get in. We also know families with more than one kid at HB. But even with these, a lot of kids didn't get in the first time. Like they applied in 6th didn't get in but then finally got in in 9th.

It is amusing to me that people need to see this for themselves to confirm it's not a big conspiracy - sounds like another one just learned now that they saw it too.

As of Friday my family is another proof point that the sibling conspiracy is false (2nd child didn’t get in for 6th and is pretty far down the waitlist.) We willl continue trying, but oh well!

Waitlist moves a lot for AT because the tour is so awesome that a lot of kids want to go, so they apply. But once it comes down to leaving their friends behind or realizing the logistics will be tough, some of them decide to stick with their home school. I had to remind my kid that if she wasn't interested in any of the specialty areas, most of her schedule would be the same as at yorktown, and sports would be a pain.

Is HB good if you are interested in the intensified track and want APs in high school?

No, they offer fewer AP Courses than the comprehensive high schools

The conspiracy is not that siblings automatically get in; it is that connected families are able to get more than one kid in.

Look closely at the families that do have more than one child at HBW. Maybe you will understand then.
