Has your opinion changed? Who did you think was at fault for the Justin Timberlake/Janet Jackson halftime show?

I believe:

- they planned it together
- either they planned only the bra being exposed or they planned the nip being exposed ~ but ~ they didn’t anticipate the backlash
- he left her high and dry to take the heat

I don't know. It was one breast. We survived.

I always thought it was a "wardrobe malfunction," but I think it had to have been planned but something went awry if only the backlash not being the response they anticipated.

Either way the backlash should have been equal, but she was a Black woman with something on her nipple.

My opinion then was and now is . . . so what, it's just a boob.

I always thought it was not intentional, she felt mortified and he was an ass about it, because he just seems to be an ass generally. I think the same now, and also that thankfully we've evolved in terms of attitudes and blaming women for stuff like this, however minor and silly it seems in retrospect.

I think it was intentional. But I also don't understand the outrage. It's just a body part. Low class and icky behavior but not particularly noteworthy.

So ridiculous how Americans don’t mind seeing people blown up but heaven forbid we see a woman’s nipple

What? Of course she planned it too. What outfit has a flap that perfect to flip down, that justin knows about with the pasty. This is such a dumb thread.

Agree - they planned it together. But no one anticipated the wild backlash. I think the NFL actually prodded on the backlash because that organization absolutely hates not having control of a situation.

It was definitely planned as I remember a behind the scenes interview and JT said we’ve got a surprise for y’all and it may have even alluded to shock. Plus it was very on brand for JJ at the time, remember she had the camera on during her Hawaii concert as she changed backstage. She was very much into exposing herself at the time. Less we forget the lyric says I’m going to have you naked by the end of this song. They were both in on it, they didn’t expect the backlash and they panicked. Him letting her take the fall shows his true character but he was also a rising solo artist at the time so I’m sure his handlers weren’t going to let their cash cow take the fall for an aging pop star.

Same. It's a body. We all have them. And it was a planned stunt. Meh.

Whether or not it was a stunt, Janet unfairly bore the brunt of the criticism, because racism and sexism, and Justin Timberlake left her high and dry. I never forgave him for the that cowardice.

This. U.S. culture rarely holds men accountable. Add race and class and it’s predictable who will bear the brunt of a situation.

At this moment, how many people have been charged with and are in prison related to the Epstein crimes? What percentage of victims have lost or had their lives damaged or destroyed by the harms?

Was it a wardrobe malfunction or done purposefully?
a little of both

The part of her shirt that he ripped had two layers. He was supposed to rip the top layer but ended up ripping both layers. I don't think that was planned in any way.
