Get ready for massive floods! OMG!

You probably made snide comments to whoever made the two threads to express their concern over animals in this weather.

That too, was an insane poster. I explained on that thread that the snow was actually a boon to animals who die of dehydration in very cold weather, since usually we tend to get dry cold weather, and warmer wet weather. It's rare that we get wet cold weather. I saw birds drinking from the snowpack, when usually they're the first to die from lack of water during cold snaps. Wild animals can survive very cold temperatures quite well as long as they're undisturbed in their nesting holes and only come out to drink and forage.

I don't want to be harsh, but the reality is that certain threads are so entirely devoid of critical thinking and basic knowledge that they're quite irritating. If you're that ignorant, please look stuff up before posting. You have the entire internet at your fingertips.

Are you the luxury bag poster who said they only posted when high?

You sound like her.

You don't get to create such a stupid thread and then whine because people criticize. If you were actually dumb enough to believe there'd be a massive flood, you wouldn't be able to type. So you're crazy. Please go be crazy elsewhere than DCUM.

The reality is that this area is easy living for wild animals. Food is abundant, there are plenty of warm places to hide, and apex predators don't exist.

Was not a lot of snow at all
The problem was the temps and ice not the volume.

Was it like 8-9 years ago when we had two storms that combined for 36 inches on snow on the ground? Anyway, we had 30+ inches on snow on the ground. It warmed up and rained hard one day. The warm temps and rain caused the snow to melt and, along with all the rain, my basement started to take in water for the first time ever...I have no idea how Alexandria didn't get washed away. : )

Some countries use sand instead of salt for roads. Better for the environment, birds, animals. There is an added on step for cleaning up the sand later. Nothing that the government can’t handle.

Plus sand doesn’t cause cars to rust.

Sand does nothing to help clear the roads

I can assure you that the government does not clean up the sand.

True! And they do use sand! There was still sand all over my culdesac even in late summer when my kids wanted to rollerskate and couldn't. They never clean anything up.

Was just out; can confirm no flooding.

I dug out the storm drain in front of my house so the melting snow has somewhere to go. Beyond that, I'm not terribly concerned.
