Substack is free for readers and writers.

Substack can be a free, non-monetized forum/publication indefinitely.

YOu can donate to any Substack writer, but you don't have to. I think writing for substack is his main job, so of course he needs money. He gets it too.

He has a podcast, and a YouTube channel, and writes books. Mehta is a regular speaker at atheist events, and he has been a board member of charitable organizations such as the Secular Student Alliance and the Foundation Beyond Belief. Mehta is a regular speaker at freethought and skeptical events around the U.S.

The Foundation Beyond Belief (rebranded as Go Humanity) was dissolved in 2022 or 2023. They became financially unable to function.

They were a secular humanist charity but they didn’t raise enough money to stay active and charitable.

because not enough people donated. The same thing can happen with any organization that relies on donations. A lot of churches have closed. for this reason.

Agreed. Organizations need money and donations.

LEGACY GIVING
When you plan a gift to FFRF in your estate plans, you create a freethought legacy that will help carry forward the vital work of FFRF for generations to come. If you do not have an up-to-date plan, you can create your will for free using this trusted resource from our partners at FreeWill, making it simple to start your legacy with FFRF in just 20 minutes online.

Have you already included a gift in your will or trust to FFRF? Please fill out this form so we can thank you for your lasting commitment to freethought and ensure our records are up-to-date.

Questions? Please contact Lisa Strand during work hours at 608-256-8900. We would also be glad to share FFRF’s bequest brochure with you.

Non-probate Assets

You may have additional assets not covered in your will or trust, such as an IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or any additional accounts. These are called “non-probate assets,” and they need to be planned for separately. Using the secure online tool, you can log all of your assets, name FFRF as beneficiary, and receive printable instructions on how to set each one up with your broker.

Plan your beneficiaries today.

IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER
If you are age 70 1/2 or older, you may now donate up to $108,000 to FFRF as a qualifying 501(c)(3) charitable organization directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). The distribution will not be treated as taxable income, provided the distribution is made directly.

To qualify, contributions must come from a traditional IRA or Roth IRA, and they must be made directly to a public charity. Additionally, the donor may not receive goods or services in exchange for the donation, and they must retain a receipt from each charity to which a donation is made.

Because it is available to taxpayers whether or not they itemize their tax returns, the rollover helps older Americans, who are more likely not to file itemized returns.

FFRF will send a “non-tax” letter receipt that documents your lovely charitable rollover gift! Thank you so much.

To donate stock to FFRF, please use the account information below. Please send us an email or call us at 1-800-335-4021 so we can gratefully process your gift and send you an official acknowledgment letter.

VEHICLE DONATION
Rather than let that extra car of yours slow you down another year, donate it to FFRF. You’ll enjoy the savings from cutting vehicle costs like insurance, maintenance, registration, and more. From cars and trucks to boats and RVs, our vehicle donation program makes donating easy with free pick-up and the handling of the sale and paperwork. Fill out this secure online donation form.

I say that as a person who is searching for spiritual meaning and is a cultural, non-practicing, Catholic.

Rank exploitation from religious posturing is disgusting and the people who do it are not worthy of respect - and they probably don't believe in what they profess, either.

One thing I like about Catholicism is that proselytzing is considered a sin.

I thought shilling on DCUM was against the rules.

You seem to care enough to try to get people to stop playing it up here.

Only Jeff determines what is against the rules here. Also, what is shilling?

Christianity isn't a scam. There are however plenty of people who are not real Christians who exploit it.

I have returned to my Catholic roots. At my age, I have really started studying the Bible, gnostic textsc etc. The true message of Christ is beautiful.

If you truly understand the message of Christ, you would not behave like these people. It makes me sad to see them distort the message.

So discussion is shilling? It’s been established that every organization needs money to function, but that’s “grifting.”

Apparently if you don’t discuss your views and don’t need money for an organization, that’s the only allowable (according to dcum) behavior.

Not to be rude, but are people who function as adults in the real world posting here?
