How can a club lose their Girls Academy status?

Exactly. Everyone should just focus on trying their best and making new friends. Kids soccer isn’t about winning but about participating, enjoying teammates’ company, and breathing the fresh air. People who try to win games in EVNL or GA rather than letting their kids express themselves (their talents, genders, and interests) are just deluding themselves.

Here’s why it matters. Speed of Play and Game IQ, but more the former. Simple as that. Many of these girls work their butts off and have become really good, but it’s at an Aspire/RL level. They need a new challenge. With GA or ECNL, you’re forced to scan continuously, you’re forced to learn how to possess under relentless pressure, the passing lanes shut down fast, etc. Not everyone wants to, or can be, successful at the GA/ECNL level, but if your DD wants to continually improve and challenge themselves to get better, playing at the same speed won’t cut it. There’s nothing wrong with Aspire or RL, it’s just slower and that’s ok for the kids that want it.

How often do teams actually get removed?

Looks like never if they are allowing TSJ to stay in GA for another year.

Confirmed. They’re in last place in every age group with a negative goal differential. I wouldn’t sign up to play for JO—his sales tactics are all talk, and he’ll disappear the moment things get tough.

Well they keep advertising as GA and not Aspire.

They will advertise whatever it takes to get you in the door. They likely won’t disclose the league until people have paid. Nothing in your acceptance binds them to any kind of promise. So you’ll pay the fee, be on the hook, then get told what you paid for. “We have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it.”

TSJ will advertise GA until GA comes out to official list them in Aspire for next season.

The writing is on the wall with those numbers at tryouts.
