Waiting for RD Emory, UWash, Duke, Wisconsin, VA, Miami, a couple UC, Tufts, Case, JHU, Cornell but very worried. I know at least one of the teacher recs was stellar teacher shared she was thrilled to promote her. Outgoing kid, but I guess similar to other profiles.

I think getting into Wisconsin and Miami (and any UC below Cal/UCLA) should be no problem. Some of others may work out too.

On the same boat. Deferred ED1, Deferred ED2. Bummed. Have another 10 RD pending. If anything works out in RD, great. But they are all crap shots in RD.

DC is moving on to their EA acceptance schools now.

It’s sad to read this. But agree this is the right way to process it.

It is like getting punched twice, and then told to wait for months for the X-ray. Ouch.

If this is really the complete list, your son should add two respectable but not-too-selective flagships with a late application deadline, like the University of Kansas or Arizona State, as emergency backups.

The trouble with your son’s list is that he’s applying to very selective schools, sounds like a would-be premed and has a low SAT score for most of the schools on the list.

In theory, Wisconsin, Case and Miami should be safeties, but who knows whether they’re really safeties for applicants like your son.

So, your son could easily get into half of the schools on his list, but the Michigan deferral seems like a warning that he could also get shut out.

1530 is not a low SAT score for those schools. Come on, stop spreading lies and being a jerk.

+1. Also Case and Miami are not safety. The acceptance rate is not high enough to be safely and they yield protect.

+1 the issue might be the GPA though. So many 4.0 UWs with high rigor applying to the same schools. And athletics doesn't move the needle unless recruited.
