| Both live in the shadow of Sidwell. Maret can't beat them in terms of rigor, prestige, college outcomes, and sports. GDS can't beat them in sports or college outcomes. |
GDS beats Maret because it doesn't have all the problems with the athletic fields that make people hate Maret (see the various news articles). GDS also has a lot more NMSF than Maret, and I always had the sense it was academically much stronger. I think Maret only had one NMSF this year. |
I was referring to some of the metrics that Maret/GDS can't beat Sidwell in, but I agree with your points. |
Yes, I read your post--but if you read the OP--they were asking about Maret vs. GDS. Your Sidwell info was a tangent. |
I wouldn't agree with that. GDS and Sidwell both had 4 NMSF this year. There are years where more GDS kids get into Harvard than Sidwell. They're both academically rigorous. But Sidwell gets the Presidential kids (other than Barron Trump) so there is the name recognition there. |
Nobody wants to copy Maret these days. A mess of a school. |
Yes, because we measure college outcome strength in terms of how many kids get into Harvard each year. In reality, the fluctuations in the number of kids who get into Harvard each year from Sidwell vs. GDS are dependent on the number of legacies. Most Harvard admits from Sidwell/GDS are legacy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but every single Harvard REA admit at these schools in recent history were legacies. |
| NMSF isn't a measurement of how smart the students are, either, to address that point brought up by the PP. There are extremely smart and talented kids at Sidwell who weren't NMSF this year, and I can imagine the same happened at GDS. |
NMSF this NMSF that. GDS academics > Maret academics, but NMSF numbers are not some foolproof/unbiased indicator of superior academics. |
Ok then what's your evidence that Sidwell is superior to GDS? And that GDS is superior to Maret? You don't want to look at performance data from a national test administered independently to all students. What indicators are you using? |
If you want to look at average test scores, do SAT/ACT not PSAT. Sidwell: 1460/33 GDS: 1430/32 Maret: an abysmal 1380/32 Already we can see the difference. I don't care to do a deep dive into the different course offerings but here is the surface of it all. |
Why are SFS parents so insecure? |
Why are non-SFS parents so jealous? |
This thread isn't even about SFS. Seems like some SFS parents can't stand not being the center of any conversation (or the ones inserting themselves here lack reading comprehension skills). |
| This thread is so stupid and irrelevant. Let it die. No school is the “copy cat” of another school. Thats a phrase used by 6 year olds anyway. I’m embarrassed by the immaturity here and the insecurity of everyone trying to claim school superiority. Grow up, people. |
