| I happen to have multiple friends who are principals - both in FCPS and outside. It’s a tortuous job. Teacher and their unions, crazy parents, kids raised by wolves - it’s a total shit show. They don’t get paid enough. I feel my friends are all exceptional at their job but the problem is they are one person against so many issues - they are all stressed and exhausted. Be nice to your principal- in many cases they are truly trying to do the best possible by your kid - they have to move mountains to do it. I would never name names here but they are really great - but they all can’t wait to retire. Education is going to blow up after the AI boom. It’s rooted in dysfunction and its results won’t be accepted in the new world order. |
| It has definitely been a tough few years. |
| We really loved Mr. Mukai at West Springfield, but then he left. |
Right. But he’s still in FCPS as a principal. This is not what OP is looking for. |
Lindsay Trout, also from Reston, left Terraset. She was amazing. Went on to be an executive principal, she was beloved by the school. |
Hard disagree on AI. |

Are you being serious? |
A track record of student growth, satisfied parents, and stable staffing. |
| We just got word that the Oakton principal is being promoted and thus leaving at the end of the month--been there the whole 8 years I've been there and no complaints. Staffing has been extremely stable. |
A little too stable sometimes if you ask me. |
