My sidewalk was cleared and now it’s not because of plows. Not shoveling again.

I agree. I don’t understand why streets get plowed — but not sidewalks, especially now that there are small snowplows so that the shoveling doesn’t need to be done by hand. Not every household has access to able bodied shovelers — especially with the ice that we’ve had. I’d also guess that ICE has made it harder to hire people to do the shoveling for you. Instead of having 10s of thousands of separate projects and fining taxpayers who don’t comply, there should be a public solution for clearing the public sidewalks — and access to them.

One of the things that irks me as a pedestrian is when home owners and businesses clean the sidewalks by their properties — but no one clears the corners, which become even more impassable when snow from the plowed streets gets piled up by the curbs. Why don’t property taxes cover creating safe ways for all of us to travel — including pedestrians?

Agree with PP- if you shoveled early it was not a big deal. Also agree with PP, if I shoveled and then city dumped snow there again, I am not responsible.

We have that in MoCo too, but you dont get a fine, you get a letter in the mail. That's WAY better I guess, as if you didn't know you needed to clean your own sidewalks.

Stop being so lazy!

Think of the people who have to use that sidewalk. Children, the elderly, people in wheelchairs.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I have no sidewalk, but I do have a front stoop and walk. This is not snow, it is ice. And, it is a LOT of work to clear it. I suspect the people complaining live in high rises.

Arent home owners responsible for everything from their property to the street? You don’t own the easement between the sidewalk and road either yet you are expected to maintain it, right? Consider it a non-monetary tax.

You aren’t required to maintain the tree box area. In fact if you spend your own money to plant things in the tree box you may get fined by the city and/or they may tell you rip them out.
