this shouldnt be a law. wtf are my property taxes for? people are tired of paying for services and get no services. We dont own the sidewalk, why am I responsible. then people like this rat their neighbors out
I agree. I don’t understand why streets get plowed — but not sidewalks, especially now that there are small snowplows so that the shoveling doesn’t need to be done by hand. Not every household has access to able bodied shovelers — especially with the ice that we’ve had. I’d also guess that ICE has made it harder to hire people to do the shoveling for you. Instead of having 10s of thousands of separate projects and fining taxpayers who don’t comply, there should be a public solution for clearing the public sidewalks — and access to them. One of the things that irks me as a pedestrian is when home owners and businesses clean the sidewalks by their properties — but no one clears the corners, which become even more impassable when snow from the plowed streets gets piled up by the curbs. Why don’t property taxes cover creating safe ways for all of us to travel — including pedestrians?
