Not that much different from $58k. Come on.

I’m the OP. We can afford it but it’s still a lot of money no matter how much money you have! But I do feel very lucky that we don’t feel stressed about it on a day to day basis.

Yeah, it's a lot of money and I try not to think of the 100 other things that money could go towards in our life, but we are much happier than we were in public and our DD is thriving. It's such an obvious difference that we feel like it's 100% worth it. I just hope it stays around $60k for a while. Ha.

Friendly question:

What is the rationale for doubling tuition over the span of 15 years? Is it simply that people have the ability to pay and they are profit maximizing? Or is it truly that they provide an incredible lifetime network and or access to the top universities that people from great Publix just don’t have anymore?

She’d probably be happier with the massive down payment you could give her for a house if you hadn’t wasted that money.

Not worth half that.

That’s a lot for the lower school. Normally schools seem to tier the pricing. Getting that high or higher for high school.
But 3rd-5th $60K seems very high

That does seem odd to have flat pricing across all grades. DC’s school starts at $43k for the youngest (pk3) and climbs every few grades to $55k for HS.

Shit, maybe I hope we don't get in. Let the rich eat the cake.

Honestly, I met so many people in DMV who went to Sidwell. Not a single one is a rock scientist. Mostly have normal jobs or no jobs.

To be fair, there is not much of a market for rock scientists in the DMV.

I suppose they will still have willing customers even when tuition is $100K. Too many rich folks here.

All these rich conservatives who don’t care about public education or want black people living in their neighborhoods. Wait, that’s the liberals of the DMV.

Yes. We will be importing a governess from London to live in our manor and teach our three kids. She will be much cheaper than a private school and we won’t have to trudge through the snow to get to school.

I think the average increase in costs in private schools is around 4 percent (from what I have seen) so the 4.6 percent increase is not that far off from the historical averages. Tuition inflation in colleges is higher than that and closer to 6 percent per year.

Not to say that its ok, just the system is designed in that way.

Does Holton give a lot of financial aid? Provide all school supplies? Have bus service at no extra cost? Finding it hard to justify this tuition for lower grades.
