I’ve never met anyone IRL who got TSS. |
| Always |
Same. I’m almost 49 and I remember all the warnings about it, but never knew, or knew of, anyone who had it. I now find tampons horribly uncomfortable so use them as little as possible, but I slept with them at night for years. |
I have. She was hospitalized for long time. You don't want to F with that. |
| yes - even though I know you aren't supposed to. i have had one patient in my 20 year career with TSS. |
Gross as in incredibly uncomfortable, like wearing a dirty diaper for 5-7 days |
| Of course. I don't want to drown in a red sea. I wake up every 3 or so hours throughout the night to change it. |
There's nothing inherently wrong with sleeping with a tampon in. It's keeping it in for too many hours that's a problem. But the act of falling and being asleep is no big deal. Just wake up and change the tampon. |
+1 |
| I’m 55 and no longer have my period but slept with a tampon on for every period for decades. |
| I do, I got tired of the blood gushes and associated messes on the sheets and underwear. It was affecting my sleep, it would wake me up! Now sleep much better without having to worry. |
| Gah, the thought of sleeping with a tampon in is nauseating. I’m surprised at the number of people saying they do. |
It's more nauseating to have to clean up my night clothes, change underwear, change sheets, wash out blood in the sink from them and then ... what, slap a pad on new underwear for it to happen again? No thanks. Tampon changed every 3 hours is the key for me. |
|
Yes, I do. I only need to for the first couple of days. Then being horizontal makes the flow stop and I use nothing while sleeping.
I can’t stand pads. I tried cups and period underwear but didn’t love them. Old fashioned ob tampons for me. |
| I can’t understand why you wouldn’t. I don’t think TSS comes from sleeping with a tampon. I’ve been doing it for 3.5 decades and am fine. |
