| Everybody is a know it all these days. It's so much worse than when I was younger. There's never any discussion, just pronouncements. |
It is though. Its exhausting how wrong my partner is all the time fights it then looks it up sees their wrong this is taking years off my life. |
Totally rediculous. |
He already has proven you wrong. |
women marry person who has a personality like their mother. True of most of the people in family and friends |
+1 Never being able to say sorry or “oh I was mistaken” is a character red flag. Do not ignore it. |
Is that what this is? I have an aunt like this. I actually flip points mid discussion and she starts arguing the opposite. I have to limit conversations. |

I'm rarely wrong... almost never.
How you might wonder... because if I don't know I say "I don't know", if it's an opinion it's an opinion, there is no right or wrong. When I know I answer and I'm only answering if I know so I'm right. |
NP. Is this satire? |
| Read the relationships forum. 99% of it is blaming other people. |
| This reminds me of when my dad was being critical of me and when I asked him if he ever did anything wrong, in all seriousness, he said no. |
I had a friend like this. She was a lawyer. She didn't do it to everyone but always did it to me -- whatever position I took in any conversation, she'd take the opposite and argue the hell out of it. And I tried this exact tactic -- flipped my position mid-conversation to see how she responded, and she just flipped to oppose. Wild. I think she secretly hated me and I don't know why. We are not friends anymore. She also fought dirty and would insult my intelligence, education, or integrity to score points. Just an all around deranged person. |
We wish. |
I agree with this. I think it's the internet. People have a lot of very shallow knowledge, plus the attention economy puts a premium on people posing as "experts." It's a big part of why I quit most social media -- I just got so tired of how condescending and authoritative people sound, even when just asserting a subjective opinion or (worse) acting like they are spouting facts while being factually inaccurate. It got worse after the 2016 election, I am not entirely sure why, and eventually I just had to log off. DCUM also has this issue but it's not quite as bad as what I have seen places like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube or TikTok. Or maybe I just find it easier to skip over the know it alls on DCUM because it's a message board and it's not videos and it's less interactive in general. For whatever reason, it feels more open-minded and more like a real conversation than those other platforms which tend to be people just lecturing each other. |
