Three times in a row, someone took my stuff out of my cart and stole it. Three times!

If you did not purchase, it's not stealing.

Are you new to Costco? People take your stuff out of the cart, put it on the floor or a shelf nearby and take your cart rather than go to the front and get one.

Pentagon City is definitely the worst Costco.

PP whose stuff disappears, there’s a staff member at Fairfax who’s very quick to reshelve stuff she thinks is abandoned. Suspect that may be what happened.

No, b/c the cart is gone but whatever was in the cart is always just taken out and on a nearby shelf.

Come to Harrisonburg, VA, if you have a couple more minutes. You’ll notice a big difference.

So you’re fine with people removing items from your cart?

You’re privileged. Some people can only afford a week worth of supplies. But for this it’s probably people thinking they’re going to be snowed in for a week and just want to be extra sure they have everything.

How does this happen if you are with your cart? Why not tell them to stop?

If they persist punch them in the face.

When its crowded at Costco, I leave my cart in an out of the way spot and grab things I need in the vicinity.

No, I don't think they stole it. I think you left your cart unattended for so long, someone (nay, 3 people) tried to teach you a lesson. Don't leave your cart in a crowded intersection for a long period of time.

I went to Fairfax Costco this morning at 9 a.m. and although there was a line to get in, I was in and out quickly, no line at the self-checkout register. Executive Membership for the win!

I didn't know there was a Costco in Lorton.

Do you mean the Costco in Newington / Fullerton?

No gas station there yet but it's always busy -- the parking lot is too small for the amount of foot traffic going in.

Yes that one. There's always parking at that location. There's also a second entrance past was used to be Dos Amigos.

Where did PP say she left her cart in a "crowded intersection" ? Cart stealing at that Costco is an issue. Not sure what it is about that store or its particular demographic, but they don't respect social norms.

I don't know why people do this to themselves. Also, don't you costco shoppers have a calculator? They have already proven you're getting ripped off by unit price. Dateline or 20/20 exposed that many years ago.

The gas station is also packed as well.

No such thing.

We would all believe that there are major crowds at Costco today, OP. Seems like a water-is-wet situation.

It takes more than "a couple more minutes" to get to Harrisonburg. More like "a couple more" hours.
