I find it less about money situation, since everyone is either pretty well off or down right rich at these schools, but more about finding purpose and the network. Work is still a huge part of a person’s identity and when kids graduate from the diaper and preschool phase it becomes especially important to have a meaningful endeavor. tbh it's rare for both parents to need to work to afford private schools. usually one spouse brings in the majority of the income, as there are outsize gains to working very long hours. If 2 spouses work, then one often has a WFH or "hobby" job and does most of the household mgmt. both parents working high profile jobs leaves no time for the children, even with a staff. |
The moms at our school have seriously impressive jobs, e.g, in banking, law and medicine. Since it is all girls, I wonder if that is a factor in admission. |
