This is really heinous. Who calls in a threat to a kindergarten?! Hoping the person is identified and held accountable.

We are Beauvoir parents who expected more timely communication from the Head of School tonight.

you are clearly in the minority. would you prefer chat gpt write the letter? letter could not have been more informative. you'd be the first family to complain if information was inaccurate too.

Who cares if we are in the minority? You’re expressing your opinion, we can too.

You are seriously clueless

What sick person would call a threat to a Pre-K to 3rd grade school? Hopefully, they can track down the phone number and punish those responsible. The older kids were terrified, as the schools invoked the active shooter protocols for over an hour. Crazy world we live in.

Statistically, it’s usually teenagers who call these threats in. Maybe an angry teenager who used to go there.

STA email tonight says it was a SWATTING call:

Just prior to 2:00 pm today, we received from the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation Police a report that Beauvoir had received an unverified call containing a specific threat of violence to the Beauvoir campus that law enforcement later discredited. In accordance with our safety protocols, we simultaneously informed law enforcement and initiated a coordinated, Close-wide lockdown procedure. The Metropolitan Police Department, PECF Police, and school security combined to ensure all three schools were fully locked down and proceeded to sweep our entire campus. The MPD also investigated the phone call. After the comprehensive campus sweep was concluded, the MPD and PECF police gave us the all-clear at 3:01 pm. The MPD has identified this as a swatting incident (a false call to law enforcement or institutions like ours to prompt an emergency response where no threat exists). We do not know if we will receive additional information from the authorities, but if we do we will share that with you.

We are grateful to the students, faculty, and staff for responding swiftly and well to the emergency alerts, and to the PECF and MPD police for their rapid response.

Really????

People have no idea how many eyes have to vet these emails —it is not as simple as a HOS wanting to send a communication.

They didn’t know for certain that this was a hoax until the police completed their sweep, and at that point the children were safely sent home. They kept us in the loop about going into lockdown and sent frequent updates that everyone was safe while the police were investigating. And now they’ve sent a more complete explanation within hours. Our children have no idea what happened other than a weird end of the school day. We genuinely don’t know what they could have done better, and we’re glad that they’re so prepared for this type of situation.

Same here, it was a rough day, but I think the school did their best under challenging circumstances. As well as communicating to us, the principal also had the job of leading her staff, who by all accounts did a wonderful job of keeping our children safe and happy.

? Not sure why poster is so quick to complain. We rec’d regular updates via text throughout until all was clear and then BVR followed up with specific information/guidance for fams. If you want deets that are inaccurate/slapped together in a hurry for quick consumption/appeasement, go elsewhere. I’d much rather have a well informed response from the schools my kiddos attend.
