A better use of our time would be to take stock of what levers we still have institutionally and use them.

I think power largely rests within our own states now. We should be building our own communities, working towards bolstering state laws, uniting to pressure our federal lawmakers to get it together.

The election of Trump was the end of an era. The re-election of Trump is the beginning of a new era. IMO, it's a disaster that will lead us to war and decline, but I'm done trying to sugarcoat it to myself that some deus ex machina is going to save us.

Agree. Focus on state governments. Run for office or volunteer for candidates running. Look at who Run For Something is endorsing. I volunteer with them and have met some of the most amazing young people stepping up to serve. Dems at the federal level are woefully out of touch.

I'm sorry, OP, but the Cabinet will never 25 the President. The WANT a demented old fool as a figure head, so they can proceed with their graft (for some), or with their neo-fascist agenda (for others), or both.

Impeachment is only useful if there's also removal. I don't think we'll get enough brave Congress members to do that: it requires a two thirds majority in the Senate, and removal means the Vice President is acting President. So not enough Dems wanting to give the reins to Vance, and not enough Repubs to remove Trump.

Pray for the double cheeseburger event instead.

I think you underestimate Europeans knowledge of history and acquiescence. Why do you assume NATO won't defend Greenland against an unwanted and unwarranted threat?

I also ate at Chili's on Ramstein today and the waiter told me half the female waitstaff are freaking out because their husbands are always deployed on the regular to Norway for Arctic Training (my base does same, was just visiting Ramstein today for the large Exchange) and most are young mothers and/or pregnant and facing the possible reality of spouses being asked to go to war with the very people they train with, and them being stuck back in Germany alone and being forcibly removed. He said it is a daily discussion and everyone is stressed and upset.
