| I look GREAT in barrel jeans. I'm 5'4 and slim with a flat stomach. You have to wear them low. They are not for every event. I like them more in the summer when I can wear a shorter top. They are really sexy. |

I think it depends on not only the person but the actual pair. I am not crazy about the ones that barrel out starting very high. I really like the ones that look more like they are going to be fitted in the butt, then start gradually flaring, as if you're just going to get a wide leg, but then start back in around the knee.
I also think you have to be massively cool to pull them off, in which case you pretty much look great in anything since half of fashion is attitude. |
That’s a lot of caveating. |
I am pear-ish, and I think they create a balanced proportion on me, unlike the ice cream cone look of skinny jeans. |

I think they work for some people, when styled a particular way. I don't actually like the tall, young models in them. I think they work best on someone older, with a slightly androgynous style, who embraces the shape as reminiscent of styles from the 1940s and 1950s (think Rosie the Riveter, not Princess Margaret).
This artist/influencer is an example of how I think it works best -- mom in likely her 30s or 40s who is looking to be comfortable and practical, works in a creative field, and whose aesthetics rely on the mix of color and texture as opposed to femininity or trying to look pretty: https://shopmy.us/shop/meghanbustard?Section_id=304644&tab=collections It's not for everyone, but I think she looks cute and it works with her personality. |
No. Not the same people at all. |
| I hate them. The proportions are strange. |
Oh wow you couldn't be more wrong. |
| They are not classic. Hard pass. |
| Oh well. We all look back on things we used to wear and wonder what we were thinking. Life isn’t that serious. Wear what you like. |
Truly. The cold shoulder Amazon Temu shoppers would never wear barrel jeans. |

I think there are just some women who can't fathom wearing clothes that add volume, and barrel jeans are a very widespread trend that adds volume to your butt and legs.
The women who hate this trend tend to be from the generation who lived through the ultra low rise trend as young adults. That was a messed up time, not just with regards to fashion but regarding attitudes towards women's bodies. It was the peak of demanding women by skinny and sexy in a very performative way. If you internalized those messages, barrel jeans must seem psychotic to you. But those of us who like them just don't think about it that way. I don't think my barrel jeans are sexy or even particularly flattering to my body. Yet I like how they look anyway. If they go out if fashion, I won't think "omg I looked so bad." I'll think "remember when barrel jeans were in style? That was great." |
| Depends on the barrel volume. Some are exaggerated while others not do much. |
It makes you look bow legged. That’s certainly a choice. |
I've never seen a woman in barrel jeans and thought she looked bowlegged. I don't see a bunch of bowlegged-looking women walking around. |
