Barrel Jeans

Anonymous
I am a big fan of letting people do themselves as they see fit and not yucking peoples' yums, etc... so I would never say this out loud but I have to put it into the universe: I think those of you who are choosing to wear barrel jeans are going to regret it one day when you look back. They are probably a test from the aliens to see how gullible we are to trend suggestions. I strongly urge you to say no.

They look bad even on the models. Enough said.

I've seen exactly one person who looks good in them in real life, and that's just because in addition to having the kind of build that looks good in anything it fits her personality somehow.

Plus I feel like a few influencers pull them off by only taking photos from some angles.

That's about it.

Thanks for the PSA
Let folks do them.

I appreciate your concern. I will keep wearing them, thank you very much.

I have never seen a person look good in them, not even the models in the ads. These girls thinking they look on trend, and otherwise pretty/good figure, look like the mom from The Loud House.

They look good on some people.

But the big thing here is that you don't understand street style.

OP these are the same people who thought hi-low was cute. Or "cold shoulder" tops/dresses.

They are as they are.

It really makes me wonder where else they can go with the jeans silhouette. Big voluminous hips tapering down to skinny ankles? Like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum? What haven’t they tried to foist on the public yet?

They look great on my tall, thin 24 year old. They would look ridiculous on me.

I feel the same about skinny jeans OP
The thing with trends - they only look good on certain shapes.
Barrel jeans can look good on Apple figures as it creates a balanced proportion of width.

I think they look good on me. I’m a size 14 so they don’t really look particularly barrel-y on me. Just sort of relaxed with a nice drape.

I think it is all about your environment and your eye. DMV is a more conservative and less sartorial risk-taking area so I can see how trends like this are jarring.
