How do people afford to travel to Europe numerous times?

Three ways:

They make or have a lot of money and just can.

They make enough money to be able to prioritize and plan so that they can take the vacation or visit family or whatever they are going to do. Maybe they stay in 5 star hotels and fly businss, or maybe they script to get $450 tickets and stay with family. This is a wide range.

They can't really afford it but put it on credit or go into debt to travel.

Hasn’t the average UMC person in the DMV been to Europe more than five times?! I literally can’t think of anyone who hasn’t.

We are going to Paris at the end of the month for a long weekend. The non-stop tickets on United from IAD to CDG tickets were $650 for regular Economy.

I married into a family with money that uses that family money to fly everybody to Europe. I've been a few times on my own dime, and half a dozen times on theirs.

I’m the PP. This 100%. We spent $7K for a fall Disney vacation. Our Paris weekend will be less than 1/2 of that.

It depends.

Some use points.

Some jump on cheap flights and build a trip from there.

Some stay in cheap or far flung accommodations (eg: the equivalent of vacationing in DC but staying in a rental in Gaithersburg).

If you aren’t limited to summer travel or vacationing during winter or spring break, then you can find affordable flights and accommodations.

And there are ways to keep other costs down. Everyone warned me that I would spend tons on food in London, but it really wasn’t the case. I stayed in the business district since I was primarily there on business, and I found the commuter cafes, etc. very reasonable.
