| Yes. Rake in the $$$ for 2-3 years and then move on to whatever it is that you think look better on your CV. |
| Theoretically, yes, I would do it. In reality, why are they offering that much? There has to be a catch. |
| Absolutely. Use your spare time due to less responsibility to find some self worth outside of your career. |
|
Yes. And then I would not change my lifestyle but retire years earlier.
How is this even a question?!?! |
Agreed! I would be concerned about the stability of the new position. It's not like you are talking $125K versus $250K. $500K vs $1M is very different. And yes, overpaid positions without lots of employees reporting to you does seem like something that could be cut easily. |
|
From director to manager? Hell yeah I would.
From C-suite to a downgrade? Maybe, maybe not. That requires a longer term strategic calculation. But ultimately, why are you working? To get paid, right? Doubling your income sounds like a no brainer. |
| What proportion of the 1M is base salary vs bonus vs stock?? This sounds unfathomable to me for a front line manager to make that much but i don’t work inside FAANG or other SaaS. Anyway I would work those numbers out. Also consider if you’ll be bored? Do you like managing others? |
This. 1 million to manage ICs? Makes no sense |
Yes, if someone offered me a million dollars to take a slightly lower title I would do that
|
| I did this earlier this year for a 25% increase. I have no regrets. |
|
I did this and went from managing a team of 40 people to being an IC. More than doubled my salary, not including stock.
No regrets but it would be a problem if I cared about managing lots of people and having a higher title in the future. |
| I would take a pay cut to not manage anyone. |
LOL |
| What’s the catch? Explore the offer, but there’s got to be a catch |
I went from $1.5M and a team to $1M and no team recently. It’s not that rare in tech. |
