I think they give out a lot of money early, then do additional rounds as early acceptances/merit recipients withdraw/decline in winter and spring.

What is max merit? How do you determine that figure?

DP but I saw numbers elsewhere, I think 20k for Swanson, maybe 10k or 15k for Dietrich? I believe these are unofficial numbers but there are enough data points to believe they're pretty reliable.

15K for Dietrich

Chancellor's scholarship = 15 students per year

We are in the same boat. Accepted business and honors college, no merit.

Here are the 2025 recipients. Mostly not from PA. Two from Maryland.

Funding was expanded this year.

DC is a good friend of a Maryland awardee. A truly stellar student and well-deserved scholarship. Was heading to UMD CP, but in late May / early June pivoted to Pitt after multiple rounds of interviews.

Has anybody gotten any Pitt merit scholarship since December? My child with very high SAT and NMSF has not heard on merit scholarship yet

Of course they would pivot if BSMD.

Yes. Applied in late October, admitted and then honors letter in December, 20k merit (Swanson) earlier this month.

Was the merit mentioned in the admission letter or was it in a separate document which came later

Separate, came a bit over a month later.

(Each piece was separate: admissions, honors, merit.)

Let’s this be a lesson to those in the future that earlier is better when applying to Pitt.

It’s not that weird. They give out a lot of merit early. Kids who apply with high stats in August/September get quick admissions and merit offers. Then the offers slow down through the later fall/winter. I’m guessing that a kid with a 1580 SAT will eventually get merit. But as others have said, the key to early, certain merit at Pitt is applying early.
