Agreed, I hate it when the people in my row close the window then. Or really at any point during the flight

I need the shade open during take off and landing to give my brain perspective on what is happening. The plane "seems" to have more movement if you can't put it in perspective to the ground. I couldn't fly for 8 years. Then after learning this, it pretty much solved my fear of flying.

I've never been to Hawaii and never paid for a business class seat, but gosh darnit if I paid over $2000 for a seat on a plane I would like a window somewhere on that aisle. Sure she has 1st world problems. However, what's with the lack of windows? It's bad enough those of us who fly regular class even for work are crammed in like sardines. If I paid that kind of money, I want a window. I stand with Gayle King! LOL!

Business class seats without windows are suboptimal, but she is a moron for complaining publicly for something like that, and presumably she has an assistant who should have her seating preferences registered. Champagne problems indeed.

Luckily since he was in bulkhead with extra legroom, another passenger offered to switch. If you book a window seat, it's odd for there not to be a window. So, I'm with Gayle here. Although I'm not a fan really.

Window seat really just means "seat furthest from the aisle."

This is an outrage! Let’s impeach Trump!

If that happened to me, I'd privately complain to my husband and my mom but I wouldn't post it on social media because I *know* there are people who would look at at and be like "shut up, you're so entitled." And I'm not famous and don't even have public social media accounts, so the person who would think that would be someone I actually know! But there are people connected to me on social media who could never afford a flight to Hawaii at all, much less in business class, and they do not want to hear me complain about a lack of window on a flight like that. I get it.

This is the kind of problem where you complain politely but firmly to the airline to see if they'll give you a discount or at least some drink coupons on a future flight, but you don't go whining about it to the general public. Think.

I agree with all of this. It sounds totally out of touch and entitled. I would love to travel business just once and I'll take that windowless seat in a heartbeat.

So now that you two know this, I assume you only purchase window seats when flying now?

The whole point is that Gayle did just that and still didn't get a window.

Free is different from paid. Obviously you know that because you choose not to pay for business class.

So, it's cool for the seller to lie to you about the product, as long as it's better than nothing?

So your son has a screaming fit because you can't make absolutely certain he has a window seat. Next time charter a private plane so the rest of the passengers aren't subjected to his screaming!

it's so people can sleep.

There are some high maintenance folks on this thread. People used to dress and act civilly and politely when able to afford the privilege of flying.

How is that possible? Did no one look at the seat mat before picking a seat?

I actually hate looking out the window. Makes me sick. The sun is too bright as well.
