Definitely apply RD to the ivy if the rest of the application is strong (rigor, SAT/ACT, ECs, LORs). Don't get deterred because of the B's (I know first hand because my kid got in even with B's in junior year). Make sure that the essays are really strong and authentic. If you think you have a shot ignoring GPA, then take it.
OK - so having said that - where this can be a real difficult decision is around the ED choice. Ivy REA/SCEA/ED likely is reserved for hooked, athletes or extraordinary students. so applying ED for ivy will likely get you a deferral and put you in the RD boat automatically. So if there is another school that might be an ED candidate - its a tough decision you will have to make on whether to go for that second choice or try your luck with the ivy lottery |
