Only talk about unhooked applicants.

Depends. Only 9th grade or only one semester while undergoing medical treatment, multiple might be fine. Standard story, better to not have more than two or three, I’d guesstimate without a compelling story.

OMG please tell me this is a bored 10th grader.

it depends on how many Bs the classmates are getting. If you get 2 and 20 classmates are applying with zero then it can be an issue.

Why not still apply? It helps if you are BIPOC, low SES; first gen, etc.

Depends on so many factors. It can't be quantified by how many Bs.

Probably need at least an unweighted 3.95-3.97 from our public to have a chance.

My kid had one B in 9th grade and mostly A/A+ in 10th & 11th. I still didn't think it was enough for Ivy.

I think my kid had 2 Bs in high school, plus a couple more in HS classes he took in MS. All As jr year. Also there were explanations for the Bs which we addressed in the additional info section.

Got into a school with rates similar to Ivies.

Stop using old data. That’s 5 years ago. Don’t you know how much more competitive admissions is now? It’s 1.828.

No Bs.

Isn't GPA compared within the school and based on school profiles or course rigors?
