Is taking a "real elective" over this Personal Finance course code for "must take a course showing true rigor"? It seems to be a certain set of kids do this while others don't.

Most electives really aren’t that rigorous, so not sure. My child wants to take some sort of computer science class though.

Maybe a certain set do it to make room for more rigorous courses, but others do it to make room for chorus and theater.

Because it's easy and opens up a spot for an elective. Mine took Astronomy.
