Why are younger women so left wing?

Historically men have been more left wing than women.

Without children to care for, young women transfer their maternal feelings and desire to care to other so-called vulnerable groups outside of their family: LBGT, immigrants, the “oppressed”.

Without religion in their life, young women (and many people of both sexes and all ages) seek feelings of identity and belonging in the political in-groups.

Please spare us your TikTok pop psychology. It’s embarrassing!

Because you raised us to believe ourselves equal to our male counterparts. We were taught that our gender is not a reason we cannot do or achieve anything we wanted to. So you raised a generation of young women who expect equality and autonomy as a given. We expect to control our bodies and to be able to make our own choices. We do not attach our value as an individual to whether we are attached to a man or produce offspring. And many of us now see those institutions for what they are—a raw deal for women. Until men begin to show up as equal partners, they will likely continue to get left behind, and trying to claw back the gains we've made will not suddenly return us to a state of compliant decorative bang-maids.

Exactly this. Women are built to be loyal to someone. If not their fathers or husbands, then it will be a party or cause.

So by this logic, this liberal married mom should not care about vulnerable groups outside my family. Yet somehow I still do.

Gonna say your logic here is not on the mark

This article is a year old, but the findings still hold true.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/649826/exploring-young-women-leftward-expansion.aspx

Some interesting highlights:
-From 2001-2007, an average of 28% of women aged 18-29 identified as liberal, three percentage points higher than young men.
-From 2008-2016, an average of 32% of young women identified as liberal, five points higher than for young men.
-From 2017-2024, an average of 40% of young women identified as liberal, 15 points higher than for young men.
-Young Women have become more liberal regardless of college status

it’s more that the definition of liberal and conservative has changed.

So being filled with God's love and following Jesus' teaching makes one less likely to care about vulnerable populations? Hm.

The loss of religiosity has pushed people to be more emotionally attached to their political beliefs.

This is true for both sexes and both political parties.

Women are just more inclined to choose Democrats because they emphasize caring for the “oppressed” which a very feminine instinct; although statistically religious women of all races tend to be less Democratic leaning. Clearly they do exist however as the PP opined.

This, plus OP's stats say more young women are liberals. They do not say that young women are "so left wing" like OP's heading says.

Most people in the this country are in the middle or to the side of middle, neither MAGA or "so left wing."

The reality is that historically men have been more leftist, so this shift is quite significant. The trend line is very pronounced in several studies.

In the aggregate, I think this is pretty spot on. I think both young men and women are frustrated. The men become bitter and withdrawn and escape into the manosphere. The women get defensive and cling to grievance politics and self righteousness. It’s all sad. The men are giving up a purposeful life for a childlike life of video games and stupid pleasures. And the women are giving up a purposeful life so they can be a childless self righteous director of marketing somewhere. I imagine this is what the boomers had in mind during their cultural revolution.
