There is a clear trend in which younger women are moving to the left, perhaps more than young men are moving to the right.
This article is a year old, but the findings still hold true. https://news.gallup.com/poll/649826/exploring-young-women-leftward-expansion.aspx Some interesting highlights: -From 2001-2007, an average of 28% of women aged 18-29 identified as liberal, three percentage points higher than young men. -From 2008-2016, an average of 32% of young women identified as liberal, five points higher than for young men. -From 2017-2024, an average of 40% of young women identified as liberal, 15 points higher than for young men. -Young Women have become more liberal regardless of college status |

Women want to control their education, their professions and their bodies.
The GOP is against these things. |
|
A confluence of irreligiousity and increased rates of childlessness.
Historically men have been more left wing than women. Without children to care for, young women transfer their maternal feelings and desire to care to other so-called vulnerable groups outside of their family: LBGT, immigrants, the “oppressed”. Without religion in their life, young women (and many people of both sexes and all ages) seek feelings of identity and belonging in the political in-groups. |
+1 And want to keep voting! |
Us normal Americans, which is the very large majority of us, will fight to the death to maintain voting rights for all. Don't worry about that. |
It would be helpful if our president didn't indulge cabinet members like Hegseth who want to repeal the 19th. |

I’m not sure why my earlier answer suggesting that women are more likely to be left-wing because they’re better educated was removed. It is a fact that, in the US, women make up about 58-60% of college enrollments.
It’s also a fact that, statistically speaking, left -leaning voters tend to be more educated than right-leaning voters. |
| Of course young women are radicalized - all around them they see their peers being sexually harassed, raped and murdered by men who far too often get away with it. And now that they are drawing closer to education and pay parity with men, they see this disgusting wave of fanatical misogyny unfolding in the online space where men whine about being held accountable and not having entitlement to women’s bodies in all imaginable ways. |
Per the article, the trend is regardless of women's education status |
| Roe V Wade was overturned. Enough said. |
And the rise of toxic right wing misogyny - the Tate brothers and others in the right wing "red pill manosphere." The sleazy, creepy, manipulative "PUA" culture and dirtbag "alpha male" influencers. They are poisoning young men against women, teaching that women are inferior, and that women are just objects to be used, abused and dominated. Women recoil from that and want nothing to do with it. Women can see that they are under assault from the right wing. |
Agree this is part of it in additional to the apha male trend and hard right law revisions. |
Exactly this. Women are built to be loyal to someone. If not their fathers or husbands, then it will be a party or cause. |
| Interestingly, one of the major differences that stand out for growing concern among young women but not men is concern about the environment, prioritizing protecting it over prioritizing economic growth, and climate change. Bigger jump on those concerns than on abortion. |
This. The GOP wants women subservient to their husbands and unable to do anything. It’s hard to support a party that is taking away your rights. |
