these are frozen and reheated. ask and they will also confirm.

As someone who's made a lot of dumplings, I'm sorry to tell you it doesn't make sense to make them fresh to order during a lunch or dinner rush. I think places like Bob's make their own given that you can buy them frozen to take home, but I expect they all start out that way before cooking.

Nan Xiang is overrated. I don’t get the Michelin recommendation. The XLB are good but all the other food is meh. The ribs have no meat and are sickeningly sweet. The rice cake is bland.

It’s comparable to Dumpling District XLB and DD has better food. The service is friendlier also. The wait at Nan Xiang is not worth it.

I'm no longer in the area, but I love the frozen ones!

They are also called XLB or xiao long bao or juicy dumplings if you dont see soup dumpling listed.

Recently had really delicious ones at Chili Bistro 825 7th St. NW. Perfect meal for a cold day.

Arlington checking in. Tiger Dumplings have a very thick skin, if you like that, I don't. District Dumpling, OTOH, is fantastic. It's in the basement of Ballston mall and they have a sampler:

We just had them last night and my kids (who lived in Asia for a while) thought they were surprisingly good for something that came out of the microwave in 2 minutes. I did too.

Costco now has Mila soup dumplings, which are great. We used to order them online -- they are the most legit frozen ones I've tasted.

You can get really good frozen ones at H Mart and other Asian grocery stores. Much better than TJs.

Bobs and District Dumpling make their own. You can watch them do it.

At Bob's I also recommend the fried tofu and string beans.

Mila frozen dumplings are great...

Tasty Dumpling in Falls Church is delicious.

No.

They aren't regular dumplings.

Soup dumplings actually have steamy broth inside, on top of the meat filling.
