Teen wants makeup. Please help!

Maybe there’s someone on Instagram who does good, age-appropriate makeup tutorials someone on here could recommend.

That a teen wants to wear makeup? What is an appropriate age in your household?

From what I researched, MAC is supposed to be good. The products seem to be very expensive - For the beginner, and a teen, if I were to buy just 2 or 3 face products where should I start? (Not lipsticks - she wants foundation, tint??, highlighter)

And do these products go on sale?

Thank you!

God no! You want Sephora or Ulta.

My teen wants more expensive makeup than I buy myself.

Why don’t you get her a makeover at a couple places? All the teens are into Sephora but you could also do something more old school like a Lancôme or some other brand. They all do makeovers. See what she likes and get her a gift card.

There’s a million makeup YouTube videos. My kid and her friends all leaned there and they do a better job at makeup than I do.

So does mine. And I wore more expensive makeup than my mom did when I was her age. Now I don’t wear any and she shops at Sephora so what goes around comes around.

Oh gosh, don't buy MAC for a teenager. It's more of a 30+ brand.

-Drugstore mascara (maybelline etc)
-Charlotte Tillbury lip liner and lipstick in neutralish color (Sephora). They have some gift sets right now.
-Drugstore concealer, blush stick & highlighter (try ELF)
-clear lipgloss (whatever is fine)
-liquid makeup remover and beauty blenders (drugstore)
-La Roche facial sunscreen (drugstore)
-If she wants a primer, do Smashbox (Sephora)

The mascara needs to be replaced often so more expensive not worth it for a beginner IMO. Charlotte Tillbury is popular with teens right now, especially the lip color.. It will take some experimenting to see what she wants for concealer, blush etc so just do drugstore brand of those for now. For a moisturizer/cleanser just do Cetaphil for now unless she has other skincare needs.
