Eww. No. My brother made that for Christmas Eve and no one liked it. Prunes and capers is a very specific taste profile

We have a rice cooker - the only way to make good rice - so will serve with rice. Also will serve with sauteed spinach and some soy sauce/brown sugar/garlic/ginger, and some persian cucumbers marinated in fly by jing sauce/rice vinegar/soy/a pinch of sugar.

A rice cooker is not "the only way to make good rice."

Have you tried rice in a rice cooker? It really is amazing.

Yeah, but it’s definitely not the only way to make good rice as the poster claims. We use a pressure cooker or stovetop and it comes out perfectly well.

My BF really loved the bo kho (Vietnamese beef stew) and Spanish chicken and dumplings (Rachael Ray recipe) and Rick Bayless's pork tings tacos. All are way more flavorful than a steak or roast. They are easy to make but don't taste like it.

I recently came across a recipe for bbq turkey meatloaf made with both ground turkey and turkey sausage, and DH and I ate it up faster than I would have imagined possible. The recipe made two loaves and I'd intended to freeze one ... we ate it over the next couple of days instead.

I’m sorry, no offense but for most people turkey anything is not going to be better than the beef version of that same thing.

NP- That's not necessarily true! Especially the turkey sausage because of the seasonings. We have been turkey and chicken sausage (and meatball) adherents for so long that the items made with beef and pork are way too greasy and unpalatable. But that's just our family.

I'm intrigued about making meatloaf with turkey sausage too though! I wouldn't think that goes with a BBQ flavor.

For the OP, to be safe you could look for recipes that are beef, and even recipes for bacon wrapped meatloaves to wow your man if you know he likes food like that. Sometimes it's just the homey foods that some men really love. You know best!

He likes meat; I was thinking some kind of roast with veggies, but it needs to have lots of flavor. Thanks!

What are his favorite dinners? How good are you at cooking?

Oh gosh, these are so good and I haven't had one in years. I dip them in drawn butter with salt and lemon juice in it.

PP here. Which is part of why I was surprised that it was so good. Which it was. But by all means, make your meatloaf with beef. We like a beef version as well.

Yes. I have two of them. They are not any better, for me, than putting it on the stove.

I would take him to Korean bbq or Brazilian steakhouse.

Agree that Ina Garten’s roast chicken is delicious and easy. The croutons are amazing.

I love these so much and make all the time but DH considers them "kids food."
