It's listed on the BCC website, but we've been burned before by this school (and others, my friends report) touting so many electives, and then warning that it depends on teacher availability and student interest... which then translates to "oops, your kid registered but actually there won't be that class next year".

true, which is why in other threads about how all HS have the same courses per their website, people have stated that this is not true.

However, in this case, RM has FS. I know this to be fact because DC is taking it and enjoying it. RM has had the FS class in previous years.

But, it's true, courses are only available if there is enough interest.

it is definitely a shame when a class cannot run because only a few students sign up or the teacher leaves. However, I would rather offer a variety of classes and see what students want than only offer what the school can guarantee will run. That way, the school has a better chance to run the classes that students want instead of having a class only half filled and then sticking students in who do not want that class. Of course, it is also the responsibility of the school to let students know as soon as possible (ideally before the end of the school year) of cancelled classes so that students can make alternate course requests.

I don't know about the BCC situation, but perhaps the admin / counselors are open to suggestion on how to handle cancelled classes?

Yep

This has nothing to do with being "burned." The only way to establish interest is to offer courses. The kids sign up. The school needs to be responsive and use its resources for the courses with the most interest, which means that those with just a few kids end up not being offered. It's just the way it has to work with limited space and teachers.
