Do you feel safe in DC anymore, with Trump in office?

No, I’m terrified of the effects of ICE. I am a white mother, so no I don’t think ICE will be picking up our kids. But I do think we are opening the door to random kidnappings as we are allowing people to kidnap without identification.

We are children of immigrants, Republican and voted for Trump. While I don’t agree with his methods, I generally agree with Trump’s politics.

I feel completely safe.

And you don’t live in Washington, DC

I feel safe enough going into DC. Probably inhumanely, there do seem to be fewer mentally ill unhoused sleeping on grates. It's a downer though so I go less often.

Ok, Karen. So you don’t live here because you’re afraid of the homeless. Got it.

Your opinion is irrelevant.

Uh huh. No I don't live in DC because when we were moving to the area, knowing little about any of it, we picked the place with lowest income taxes. Worked in DC for 40 years. Thanks for the fun, suckers

Wrong forum. This should be moved.

lol if you actually worked in DC you would know they pushed all the homeless just out of view from the road.

Much more worried about DHS shooting at cars for improper lane changes in front of an elementary school or opening fire on someone who ran a stop sign in front of a hospitals. Very lucky they have not killed kids at school.

I’m in NOVA and stayed out of DC when I’m with my kids because of all the violent teens who partake in armed carjacking. I feel more safe now with Trump in office but still avoid going.

One poster after another offering their opinion on whether they feel "safer" when they don't even live here. Nobody asked you, and your opinions don't matter. MYOB.

Some of us make enough money that we don't have to make a decision on where to live because of state income taxes. Must suck to be you.

Well the neighbors are less obnoxious, lolz.
Must be stressful there even though you are soooo rich. Lucky girl.

+1.

NP, BTW.

In 2023 were 975 armed carjackings in DC (that we know of. Real number is probably much much higher).

That was allowed to happen under Biden. Draw your own conclusions.

D.C. is a great place to live.

I feel less safe. If citizens without criminal records can be kidnapped and detained for months, who is safe?

Moreso, I just have a latent stress and worry about my kids being safe in America. Between guns in schools, ICE raids, and extreme wealth inequality, it feels like we are breeding future depressed and stressed adults.
